ASHTABULA — Linda Lee Lathrop, age 69, of West 11th St., Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Monday, Oct. 14, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born April 7, 1944, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of Tony and Dorothy (Kennedy) Kozlowski and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1966, moving here from Ravenna.
She worked in food service most of her life, starting in the kitchen at Robinson Memorial Hospital in Ravenna. She later spent many years with Chapman’s Food Service and then McDonald’s, both in the Ashtabula Harbor.
On Nov. 11, 1995, she married Donald Lathrop and together they have shared nearly 18 wonderful years.
Linda enjoyed stuffed peppers and pizza, and made great lasagna, but her favorite food was dessert and was known for her sweet tooth. She had a standing date every Thursday for a hamburger and a margarita with her husband and dear friends, Ed Carrillo and Linda Gray. She also loved 50’s and 60’s music, Neil Diamond, dancing, and listening to the Earnest T. Band perform.
Formerly a volunteer at ACMC, she devoted herself to her grandchildren, making sure they got off to school safely every day and being known as the “fun and crazy grandma” to many.
Survivors include her husband, Don Lathrop of Ashtabula; five children, Marty Lathrop of South Dayton, N.Y., Dwayne (Tina) Cunningham of Garrettsville and Gerald (Melissa) Cunningham, Paul Lathrop and Molly (James) Lathrop-Griffith, all of Ashtabula; 11 grandchildren, Dylan, Brett, Jacob, Michael, Katie, Samantha, Brianna, Josh, Jason, Hunter and Nikki; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carol (Paul) Jaros of Deerfield and Dorothy “Dottie” Massena of Ashtabula; one brother, Joseph (Diane) Bemme of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two nephews, Ryan Schwartfigure in 2009 and William Bemme in 2013.
Calling Hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 17th, at the ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
