ERIE, Pa. — Arnold L. “Pete” Myers, age 77, of Andover, Ohio, died unexpectedly Sunday evening, Sept. 30, 2013, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa.
Born July 8, 1936, in Girard, Pa., he was the son of Alfred and Margaret (McMillan) Myers. A former West Springfield, Pa., and Conneaut, Ohio, resident, Pete attended school in West Springfield and in Conneaut.
A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was employed as a car-knocker with the Bessemer and Lake Erie Railroad in Albion, Pa.
In his leisure time, Pete enjoyed puttering around his home.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy (Hathaway) Kreider Myers, whom he married Feb. 19, 1994; a daughter, Terry Chase of Florida; two step-daughters, Debra Pickens of Indiana, Pa., and Sherrie (Herb) Wright of Madison, Ohio; his son, Michael (Tammy) Myers of Alabama; a step-son, Alan (Kim) Kreider of North Kingsville, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty (Frank) Scalise of East Springfield, Pa.; a brother, Gerald “Bill” (Jan) Myers of Conneaut; and many nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Melvin, Alfred, Walter and Chuck; and sisters, Ella Kasper, Thelma English, and Minnie Myers in childhood.
At Pete’s request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Line Church of Christ. Envelopes will be available at the MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, which has charge of arrangements.
