PAINESVILLE — Gregory M. Gilson, a long time Attorney, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio.
Born August 27, 1947, he spent his entire life residing in Painesville, Ohio. He was a 1965 graduate of Riverside High School. After graduating from Bowling Green State University in 1969, he obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from Cleveland Marshall College of Law in 1972.
For over 40 years, he served many in his practice of law, a profession he truly loved. In the past, he also served as the Prosecuting Attorney for Mentor-on-the-Lake, Ohio and Kirtland, Ohio. He was a member of the Lake County and Ohio State Bar Associations.
Greg was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He enjoyed nature, gardening, playing golf, fishing and traveling.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Regina “Jeannie” Burgess Gilson; son, Gregory P. Gilson (Suzanne Novak, wife) of Fairport, Ohio; daughter, Molly T. Gilson Cicek (Michael T. Cicek, husband) of Bainbridge, Ohio; granddaughter, Morgan T. Cicek of Bainbridge, Ohio; grandson, Michael T. Cicek of Bainbridge, Ohio; brother, Paul E. Gilson Jr. (Sandra L. Booher Gilson, wife) of Geneva, Ohio; nephew, Paul M. “Chip” Gilson of Geneva, Ohio; nephew, Timothy E. Gilson (Lori Buckner Gilson, wife) of Eagle Mountain, Utah; step-mother, Gail F. Nolan Gilson of Mentor, Ohio; mother-in-law, Virginia D. Miller Burgess of Mentor, Ohio; brother-in-law, Rick A. Burgess of Mentor, Ohio; niece, Dylan Ballard Wisen (Tony Wisen, husband) of Mentor, Ohio; niece, Chelsea Burgess of Mentor, Ohio; nephew, Richard Burgess of Mentor, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Joanna Burgess Bowling (Herb Bowling, husband) and Jackie Burgess, both of Concord, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia A. Pomeroy Gilson; father, Paul E. Gilson Sr.; father-in-law, Nathan A. Burgess; niece, Lauren Hradisky; and a sister-in-law, Denise Ballard Burgess.

A private memorial celebrating Greg’s life will be held.
