CONNEAUT — John C. Emerson Sr., age 83, of Conneaut, Ohio, passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2014, at Lake Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Conneaut.
Born Dec. 26, 1930, in West Springfield, Pa., he was the son of John C. and Mary (Dilley) Emerson.
John did maintenance at the 76 Truck Stop in Kingsville for many years, and had also worked at Conneaut Can Co., Township Park, and sailed on the Great Lakes. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army.
He was a member of the Jefferson Grange and attended the Pentecostal Church of God. He enjoyed his computer, aquariums, and his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his daughter, Mary Benn of Conneaut; three sons, John C. Emerson Jr. of Ashtabula, Ohio, Donald Emerson of Erie, Pa., and Ronald Emerson at home; four sisters, Elma Hough of Cincinnati, Ohio, Carol Russell of Houston, Texas, Audrey Blinkhorn of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Joyce Love of Cincinnati, Ohio; three brothers, Leon (Reba) Emerson of Monroe Township, Ohio, Arnold Emerson of Holidaysburg, Pa., and Calvin Emerson of Pasadena, Md.; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy Smith Corey; a sister, Alice Emerson; and his wife, Marian Emerson on Jan. 20, 2014.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, March 26th, at THE MARCY FUNERAL HOME, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio, with Pastor Kenneth Roberts, of the Pentecostal Church of God, officiating. Burial with Military Honors by Cowle Post #151 of the American Legion, will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling Hours will be on Wednesday from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the Service at 2.
