JEFFERSON — Alice Matilda Lance, age 89, of Maplewood Drive, Jefferson, Ohio, died late Monday morning, Feb. 11, 2013.
Born April, 22, 1923, in Painesville, Ohio, she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Szekers) Lawrence. She was a Painesville Harvey High School graduate and lived there for the majority of her life until moving to Jefferson 15 years ago.
Alice worked as a clerk in the camera department for K-Mart in Mentor until her retirement.
Alice was a proud member of the Hungarian Reform Church in Fairport Harbor. She enjoyed working in her herb garden and loved to cook. She also had a passion for quilting and over the years has made many for her loving family.
Her survivors include four children, Cynthia J. (Don) Eskesen of Pontiac, Ill., John R. Dodd of Painesville, Lenora J. (Lionel) Parsons of Wickliffe and Vicki E. (Steve) Nagy of Jefferson; brothers, William and Elmer Lawrence; sisters, Martha Butler and Peggy Marks; eight grandchildren, Kelley Witcraft, Tracy VonBriesen, Gary Dodd, Cynthia Tatter, Edward Holderman, Amanda Parsons, Kim Masirovits and Steve Nagy; and 12 beautiful great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul R. Lance; three brothers, Frank, Victor and John Lawrence; a grandson, Terrence Holderman; and a daughter-in-law, Karen Dodd.
Honoring Alice’s wishes the family will be having a Private Graveside Service in Oakdale Cemetery at a later date.
