ASHTABULA — Charlotte Lovas, age 95, of W. 7th St., passed away Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Saybrook Landing.
She was born Nov. 3, 1918, in Royal Oak, Mich., the daughter of William and Josephine (Casey) West and had been an Ashtabula resident since 1952. She married the love of her life, Joe Lovas Jr. on May 30, 1947, and they spent 62 years together.
She was a graduate of North Ridgeville High School and Ursuline College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology. Prior to her retirement, she was a social worker for Children’s Services of Ashtabula County.
A member of Mother of Sorrows Church for over 50 years, Mrs. Lovas served 25 years on the Board of Directors for Ashtabula County Residential Services and 15 years on the Board of Ashtabula County Children’s Services.
A faithful Cleveland Indians fan, she loved flowers, especially lilacs, and anything that was the color purple.
Her survivors include six children, Joseph M., William J. (Carol), John E. (Cathy), and Ann L. Lovas, all of Ashtabula, Kathy Lovas of Madison, and Edward (Ruth) Lovas of College Station, Texas; four grandchildren, Dawn (Ryan) Cochran, and Karina, Cameron, and Kyle Lovas; and three great-granddaughters, Taylor, Aryn and Paden Cochran.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Lovas Jr. on Nov. 3, 2009; a daughter, Mary Jo Lovas; brother, William West; and her parents.
Calling Hours will be held from 2 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 24th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, Nov. 25th, at Our Lady of Peace Parish, Mother of Sorrows Church, 1464 W. 6th St., Ashtabula. The Rev. Raymond Thomas will preside. Entombment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
