EUCLID — Rick A. Gerren, age 44, of Euclid, Ohio, died unexpectedly at his residence on Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013.
Rick was born in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Charles T. “Tim” and Ann Bertog Gerren. He was a 1987 graduate from Conneaut High School.
He later went on to work at Avery Dennison in Fairport Harbor for many years. Rick loved his work at Avery. He was known for being a warm and charitable man. Rick would always donate many hours each year to the United Way “Day of Caring” program and also he would donate a bicycle to a child each year through the “Angel Tree” Christmas program. Rick loved the winter season and especially the snow.
Rick was a very family oriented man. He kept his family and friends close to his heart, but his mother, Ann always came first. She was the love of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles T. “Tim” Gerren; and his sister, Sharon Crandall.
Rick is survived by his mother, Ann Gerren of Conneaut; a daughter, Tiffany; his life partner and best friend, Paul Roba; brothers, Chuck and Jayne Gerren of Ashtabula, and Tom Gerren of Conneaut; sister, Susie and Scott Burdine of Conneaut; and nieces and nephews, Christopher, Matthew, Jessica and Nicole Chapman, Stephanie and Joshua Szalai, Brandon Burdine, and Haley and Tyler Gerren.
Calling Hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 7:30 p.m., with a brief Prayer Service at the conclusion, on Saturday, Nov. 23rd, at RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
The family request in lieu of flowers, any donation be made to the United Way in Rick’s memory, envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
