Lester Jones Jr., age 71, died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
The son of Lester and Lizzie (King) Jones Sr., he was born on Sept. 4, 1941, in Hayti, Mo. In 1967, he moved to Ashtabula where he met and married Florence Reynolds, they would have celebrated their forty first wedding anniversary on Nov. 26, 2012.
Lester worked for Elkem Metals for many years, where he made many lifelong friends and kept in touch with them after retirement.
A true sports fan; Lester enjoyed sports of all types. A giving person, always willing to help anyone and to share what he had with anyone in need. He worked many hours, never taking vacation, or time off to provide for his family. A man of quiet strength, Lester loved his wife, his children and grandchildren with his whole heart.
He is survived by his loving wife, Florence Reynolds Jones of Ashtabula; his daughters, Darla Jones and Christina McKinnon, both of Ashtabula; son, Lester Ricks of Hayti, Mo.; god daughter, Antoinette Ezell of Ashtabula; grandchildren, Kieran, Joshua, DeShawn, Jajuan, Dymond and Lyrik, all of Ashtabula; great-granddaughter, Kyra of Ashtabula; brother, Freddie Williams of Memphis, Tenn.: sisters, Mamie Jean Grover of Memphis ,Tenn. and Vivian (Roosevelt) Corpening of Ashtabula; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ernest Williams; sisters, Mary Pearson and Annie Mae Sandidge; and his parents.
Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon, Wednesday, Oct. 24th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula. Burial will be in Chestnut Grove Cemetery.
Calling Hours will be observed from 11 a.m. until time of Service at Noon, Wednesday, at the Funeral Home.
