CUMBERLAND — Gary E. Brown, age 58, of Cumberland, Ohio, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, of complications from the flu and pneumonia.
He was born in Cleveland, Ohio, Feb. 4, 1955, to Barbara Beduhn and Lynn F. Brown. Gary grew up in Chardon, later living in Windsor, Pierpont, Carrolton and Cumberland.
For years, he had his own trucking company in northern Ohio. He enjoyed driving trucks, working on the farm and in the woods.
Being in the woods, sitting around the campfire with his family and friends, taking care of animals, including rescuing animals were some of his favorite things to do. Wherever he lived, he made many friends as he enjoyed talking to and meeting people. He loved a good story, and better yet, loved to tell one.
He is survived by his lifetime partner, Janet Teichman; his mother, Barbara Brown of Ashtabula; brothers, Greg (Jocelyn) Brown of Yoder, Wyo., and Mark L. Brown (funeral director) of Fairport Harbor; sister, Cathy (David) Dewey of Ashtabula; nephews, John and Michael Dewey; and niece, Carrie (Mrs. Jason) Ellison.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn F. Brown.
A Memorial Gathering will be held from 12 p.m., Noon, until 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 1st, at St. Mary Church Hall, 103 North Maple St., Orwell, Ohio 44076, where an Appreciation Of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m.
