ASHTABULA — Emily Jane (Beebe) Schroeder, age 90, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 24, 1922, in Mount Vernon, N.Y., the daughter of Frederick and Ruth (Keigwin) Beebe and married the love of her life, Willard Schroeder on April 10, 1948, at Calvary Episcopal Church, Williamsville, N.Y. Together, they moved to Ashtabula in 1950 to raise a family.

A 1941 graduate of Williamsville High School, she attended Florestone Mather, Cleveland Ohio for several years.

A member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church since 1950, she sang in the church choir for over 50 years and was involved with the St. Elizabeth Guild and Altar Guild of the church. Always known and respected for valuing education, she was involved in the Great Books Program at Washington Elementary School and served as a 5th and 6th grade teacher’s aide there as well. Emily was also involved with CONTACT Teleministries, was a member of Redbrook Boat Club, and was a patron of the Ashtabula Arts Center and St. Peter’s Fine Arts Series “Great Music Without Barriers.”

She is survived by five children, Martin (Anita) Schroeder of Hopkinsville, Ky., Frederick Schroeder of Sioux Falls, S.D., Natalie (Wallace) Good of St. Albans, Vt., Ann (Richard) Balog of Ashtabula, and Mary (Michael) Schlievert of Genoa, Ohio; 12 grandchildren, Matthew (Heather) and Nicholas (Valarie) Schroeder, Elizabeth (Keith) Francis, Cipperly Good, Richard W. (Danielle) Balog, Emily (Nick Gover) Good, Wallace (Kathleen) Good III, Sarah (Andrew) VanLoocke, Samuel and Jane  Schlievert, and Rebecca and Jennifer Schroeder; and 11 great-grandchildren, Seth, Gunnar, Zachary, William, Jack, Avery, Deanna, Hannah, Raegan, R.J. (Richard), and Harlow.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard F. Schroeder on August 1, 2005; brother, Charles D. Beebe; and her parents.

A Service will be held 12 Noon, Saturday, May 25th, at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 4901 Main Ave., Ashtabula. Canon David Evans, Rector will preside. Inurnment will take place in the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church Columbarium.

Calling Hours will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., Saturday, in the Guild Room of the Church.
