Arthur T. Stegall Jr.

ASHTABULA — Arthur Thomas Stegall Jr., age 81, went to be in the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013. His loving family surrounded him with love and prayers as he made his final journey.

The son of Arthur T. and Esta M. (Siler) Stegall Sr., he was born on Jan. 17, 1932, in Rockwood, Tenn. He moved to Ashtabula, Ohio, as a young child and had remained a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Ashtabula High School, he also studied electrical engineering in Chicago.

On August 12, 1949, in Jefferson, Ohio, Arthur was united in holy matrimony to Lora Fuller. For sixty-three years, they loved each other and raised their family. His beloved Lora died on Nov. 20, 2012. Arthur loved his wife dearly and now they are forever united in the heavens.

A faithful employee of Elkem Chemical, Arthur was dedicated to his job. Over the years, he made many friends with whom he remained in contact after retirement.

Arthur was an amateur radio operator, better known as a HAMM. He also enjoyed repairing radios, televisions and computers. He built and ran radio controlled airplanes, cars, and boats. Arthur enjoyed being outside, whether it was working in his garden or taking long walks and having his private talks with the Lord.

Arthur will be remembered for his work ethic, his ability to repair anything electronic, his devotion to his wife, his children and grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; but, more than that for his devotion to his faith.

Arthur is survived by his three children, Arthur (Mary Williams) Stegall of Conneaut, Cynthia (Damion) Moyer of Ashtabula and Veronica (Don) Pearl of Des Moines, Iowa; grandchildren, Jarvis Singletary, Vulnavia McMillian, Tamara  Miller, John Singletary, Bryce Austin, Jeff (Jerrett) Sandidge, Donnell Pearl, Lora L. Stegall, Megan Williams and Katelyn Williams; many loving great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; his siblings, Nadine (Neroy) Carter, Gwendolyn Stegall, Marvin (Hazel) Stegall and Brenda House, all of Ashtabula and Steve (Sharon) Stegall of Des Moines, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews.
