ASHTABULA — Shirley Jean McPheron, age 88, of Austinburg Road, Ashtabula, Ohio, died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, at the County Club Retirement Campus.
She was born Oct. 13, 1925, in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of James and Myrtle (Brown) Switzer. Shirley has been a Ashtabula area resident most of her life coming to Ashtabula after her mother died and was raised by family members Louis and Edna (Gear) Augustine.
She graduated from Ashtabula High School and had worked at the Ashtabula Telephone Company as an operator and also at Carlisle’s warehouse.
She was a member of the Saybrook United Methodist Church; the VFW Post #943 Auxiliary; the Ashtabula Women’s Connection and the Conneaut Moose Lodge.
She enjoyed yard work and her tractor. She loved the wild animals in her yard but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Surviving her is her daughter, Bobbi (Dennis) Heil Sr. of Ashtabula; two grandsons, Dennis Heil Jr. and Robert Heil; and a great-grandson, Christyan Nenstiel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert L. McPheron in 1990; a brother, Allen Switzer; and a sister, Helen Switzer Kolakowski.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 23rd, at the Saybrook United Methodist Church, 7900 S. Depot Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Jeff Stoll officiating. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery in Ashtabula Township.
Calling Hours will be Friday, Nov. 22nd, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula and from 10 a.m. until the time of Service on Saturday at the Church.
