JEFFERSON — Dorothy F. Rau, age 90, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, at Jefferson Health Care Center.
She was born on July 17, 1923, the daughter of Manford H. Shank and Mabel M. (Dangler) Shank. She was a 1941 graduate of Kingsville High School.
Dorothy was employed at Ward Products, Sheffield Stop and Shop, Beverly Kay Hair Fashions, and then retired from Iten Industries in 1985 after 20 years of service. After retirement she worked at three local day care centers. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter No. 12, United Methodist Women and one of the oldest members of the Gageville United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed baking, gardening, dancing, and crafting. People will remember her for her cookie and banana bread deliveries. She loved and enjoyed being with small children.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra L. Paine of Jefferson; grandson, Kirk R. Paine of Orwell; and great-granddaughter, Madison S. Paine of Salem, VA. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Laura Shank.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her brothers, Clel, Keith, Rex and Ralph Shank; and sisters, Lenore Mattson, Helen Nicka, Agnes Burch and Doris Rhines.
A Funeral Service will be held at the Gageville United Methodist Church, 4071 State Rt. 193, P.O. Box 439, Kingsville, Ohio 44048 at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17th, with the Rev. David L. Blood officiating.
Visitation will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m., prior to the Service, Tuesday, at the Church. Burial will be in the Gageville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made in memory of Dorothy to the Gageville Methodist Memorial Fund or Tridia Hospice, State Rt. 45, Austinburg, Ohio 44010.
