Geneva Varsity basketball players to host annual sports camp for kids

GENEVA —

As the Geneva girls varsity basketball coach, Nancy Barbo will lead her players to become coaches in their own right at the annual Girls Summer Basketball Camp at Geneva High School from June 23 through June 26.
“The players are amazing with the younger girls,” Barbo said. “They step up and take the camp very seriously. Many of our Geneva players became interested in basketball because of this camp and because of the players who taught them when they were little.”
Barbo said the goal of the camp is to improved, develop and acquire the basketball skills to become an overall better player.
The players will teach the younger girls skills with a focus on: shooting, passing, ball handling, screening, perimeter play, team play, physical conditioning, rebounding, leadership, defense and more.
The camp will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily for girls entering grades three through nine. Cost is $50 per player. Each player must come “dressed to play” with shorts, T-shirt and athletic shoes. Each player must bring their own lunch and drink. Space is limited.
For more information call Barbo at 466-0898.
