Winery book club to host ‘Meet the Author’

There’s “well read” and then there’s “well red.”
The Winery at Spring Hill invites everyone to be a bit of both on June 4 as they welcome historian, author and storyteller Dan Ruminski to sip a little vino and discuss his new book “Cleveland in the Gilded Age: A Stroll Down Millionaires’ Row.”
Ruminski will meet and greet guests, sign copies of his book and participate in a question and answer session.
“From 1875 to 1930, Euclid Avenue’s Millionaires Row was considered by many to be the grandest avenue in the world,” Ruminski said. “One of its many admirers was Mark Twain. This is the story about the ‘Row’ and the day to day lifestyles, fortunes and tragedies of its families.”
Ruminski’s book dishes all the details of these new and old money fortunes, including the cost of the homes, where the money came from and photos of the inside and outside of some of the grandest mansions in the world.
“Millionaires Row, with its winter sleigh races and elaborate parties, was once Cleveland’s gem. What caused the decline and destruction?” Ruminski asks.
Seating is limited for this event, which will begin at 6 p.m. To reserve a seat, call 466-0626. Ruminski’s book “Cleveland in the Gilded Age: A Stroll Down Millionaires’ Row” is on sale now at The Winery at Spring Hill.
