Conneaut yard sale will support APL, Storybook Acres

CONNEAUT —

For a second straight year, Moe and Jim Tanner of Conneaut will transform their front yard into an emporium to assist two animal-based organizations.
The couple will host a yard sale at their 930 Main St. (Route 20), home between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. June 6-7. Proceeds will help the Ashtabula County Animal Protective League and Storybook Acres, a farm animal rescue group based in Kingsville Township.
Donations for the sale have been flowing into the Tanner house, Moe said.
“We’ll have quite a variety,” Moe Tanner said. “We’re real excited.”
Hot dogs and chili will be sold and the APL will have some animals on site that are available for adoption. This year’s version is drawing more supporters, Moe Tanner said. For example, Here’s Your Sign has donated a banner that will promote the sale.
“More and more people are getting involved,” she said.
The Tanners will also accept donations of cash and supplies for the APL shelter located in Kingsville Township. Last year’s sale raised $500 for the groups, Moe said.
And there may be a new commodity on the market next weekend: firewood. The Tanners recently felled a big maple tree in their front lawn, and the wood is available for purchase.
“We may be the only yard sale that offers firewood,” Moe said, laughing.
