Lakeside High School hosts first annual ‘Lunch with a Professional’

ASHTABULA —

In cooperation with Ashtabula County Medical Center,  A-Tech and the Ashtabula Area City Schools Business Advisory Council, Lakeside High School recently held its first annual “Lunch With a Professional.”
In all, 38 professionals, employed by ACMC, spent an afternoon lunching with students and discussing careers, job descriptions and educational requirements.
LHS teacher, Tim Ranck, helped organize the event.
“It was a phenomenal afternoon where the business community consulted  the student body,” he said. “I don't think many people realize the huge variation of careers employed by one facility.”
Lakeside students had the opportunity to talk to everyone from the CEO of ACMC to an athletic trainer to the director of diagnostic imaging.
“The feedback from the students has been extremely positive and very appreciative,” Ranck said.
ACMC’s President and CEO, Michael Habowski, said, “After meeting the student body of Lakeside, I feel safe to say our future is in good hands. Our staff was extremely happy to spend the afternoon at the high school and are looking forward to coming again next year.”
Habowski said it’s  exciting to expose these young adults to more than just the medical part of the hospital.
“ACMC employs many people in a variety of job titles,” he said. “Some day, a high school student we impacted today could be an employee of our hospital.”
