Edgewood’s pig kissing principal takes it in the face for a good cause

— ASHTABULA TOWNSHIP — The raucous crowd of students roared its approval as Edgewood Senior High School Principal Karl Williamson entered the school gymnasium.
The somewhat reluctant administrator was there to seal a fundraising deal made with the Edgewood Cancer Warriors for the Relay for Life.
The Edgewood students voted for the teacher or administrator they would most like to see kiss three pigs and be assaulted with Cool Whip cream pies. Williamson was the hands-down winner.
A docile mini potbellied pig named Porkchop was the first to experience the pleasure of a kiss from the principal. The year-old porker showed little emotion when kissed by the married man. The boar is owned by Wos Farms of North Kingsville.
The second pig, a blue butt cross Isler Genetic young male named Fluffy, wanted nothing to do with the three-timing man from Edgewood. Fluffy threw a hissy fit and had to be put back in his box by his handler, Bo Shreves of Pymatuning Valley High. Williamson remained upbeat, despite the rejection.
The third pig was a little slow in making his appearance, but the wait was worthwhile. The tall pig came out looking his best, thanks to the efforts of student Nick Scott. Williamson was taken aback by the pig’s flirtatious nature and was hesitant to kiss the amorous but suspiciously human-looking pig. The packed gymnasium groaned as Williamson continued to stall, but cheered loudly as the administrator relented and kissed the always-willing pig.
Now came the easy part for the cooperative principal: getting hit by cream pies. The pie-throwers names’ were drawn in a method similar to a raffle. The winners pelted Williamson from a variety of ranges: from a few feet away to point-blank.
The students raised about $600 for the Relay for Life cancer fundraiser.
