ASHTABULA - - A whale of a story.
"Moby Dick! The Musical" is not the typical tale of the whale. "Moby Dick" is the story of a group of creatively inspired students who take matters into their own hands to save their financially destitute school.
With no production budget, the students fashion props and costumes from whatever they can find in order to put on a production of "Moby Dick."
The arts center promises audiences will howl when the "headmistress" (played by a man in drag!) takes
the starring role of Capt. Ahab, making this a role played by a man playing a woman playing a man!
Similar to "The Rocky Horror Picture Show," it will play Aug. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17 and 18. All performances begin at 8:00 p.m.
Straw Hat Theatre is located at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St. Tickets can be purchased by calling the arts center at (440) 964-3396. Tickets can also be purchased at the door if seating remains available. Patron seating $12, adults $10, seniors $9 and students/children $8.
