Held at the North Park Gazebo in Ashtabula each Wednesday and the Village Park in Jefferson on Thursdays, Brown Bag concerts are held at noon and feature a ... Arts center serves up more artists for lunch Star Beacon ASHTABULA - - The Ashtabula Arts Center's Brown Bag Concert Series will continue today and Thursday. Held at the North Park Gazebo in Ashtabula each Wednesday and the Village Park in Jefferson on Thursdays, Brown Bag concerts are held at noon and feature a different performer or musical group each week. Admission is always free. The Ashtabula series is sponsored by the Star Beacon. The Jefferson Series is sponsored by Gazette Publications. The Ashtabula North Park performance Wednesday will feature John Hoyle, Ashtabula County's "Irish tenor." Hoyle has been singing Irish songs for more than 35 years and he has become a favorite at local winerys and other community venues. John's vocal and instrumental performance will bring a bit of Ireland to the Brown Bag series. Bill Orqvist, a native of Ashtabula, will play the Jefferson Village Park concert Aug. 2. Bill has been playing the accordion for 60 years. He has played all over northeast Ohio and while he plays most styles of music, the polka has remained his favorite. Concerts are held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, the Ashtabula concerts are held at the First Presbyterian Church on Park Avenue. The Jefferson rain site is at the United Methodist Church, adjacent to the park. The remaining performers in the Ashtabula Series will be: theater favorite Linda Fundis on Aug.t 8; and Bill Orqvist-king of the polka, on Aug. 15. The remaining performers in the Jefferson Series will be: Linda Fundis on Aug. 9 and computer keyboardist Dave Young on Aug. 16.
