MADISON - - For six generations ,readers have been enchanted by the touching adventures of Joe, Meg, Beth and Amy March in Louisa May Alcott's timeless classic "Little Women."
This beloved book is the inspiration for the recent Broadway hit, "Little Women, the Broadway Musical," and is Rabbit Run Theater's next production. In a skillful adaptation of the book, "Little Women, the Broadway Musical" celebrates the power of family and friendship with a refreshing innocence and charm.
"Little Women" opens today runs through July 29. Tickets may be purchased at the box office by calling 440-428-7092, 3:00 to 7 p.m., Wednesday through Sunday. Curtain time is 8 p.m. Rabbit Run Theater is located at 5648 Chapel Road, and operates under the auspices of Rabbit Run Community Arts Association.
"Little Women," with lyrics by Mindi Dickstein and music by Jason Howland, is directed by Brendan Sandham. A familiar face at Rabbit Run, Sandham directed last summer's Youth Production, "Cats," and has appeared in the theater's productions of "Ragtime" and "The Music Man." Sandham has performed and directed in several community theaters including Fine Arts Association and Geauga Lyric Theater Guild, where he also serves on the board of trustees.
"The show has quite a lot going for it," said Sandham. "It is a condensed version of the book, which makes it more adaptable for the stage, but in so doing it still remains true to the essence to the book, keeping all the main events and faithfully representing each of the characters. The musical score is fantastic, and we have brought together some very talented singers for the show."
The cast includes Lindsey Sandham as Jo, Allison Lehr as Meg, Meredith Kochan as Beth, Kelly Smith as Amy, and Sandy Kosovich Peck as Marmee.
