Rabbit run offers kids camp, violin concert Star Beacon MADISON - - For the past 15 years, Rabbit Run Community Arts Association has sponsored the Children's Theater Camp. Each summer, more than 100 campers participate in a seven-week comprehensive theater arts program held at Rabbit Run Theater and neighboring Stanton Park in Madison. Children's Theater Camp gives participants a thorough overview of everything involved in play production. During the summer, campers ignite their imaginations and explore all areas of the theater arts including, drama, music, dance, costumes, make-up and stage craft. Campers also participate in arts and crafts, age-appropriate games and, for those in Youth Camp, swimming at the Stanton Park pool. At the end of the program, the campers have the opportunity to perform a full-scale production on the stage at Rabbit Run Theater. The Theater Camp is divided into to sections depending upon the age of the child. Junior Camp, ages 5 to 7, meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Youth Camp, ages 8 to 14, meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Junior Camp begins June 19 and runs through Aug. 2, and Youth Camp begins June 18 through Aug. 3. Camp performances are on Aug. 3 and 4 at Rabbit Run Theater. "In addition to teaching the campers all the 'ins and outs' of theater, we try to make this truly a traditional camp experience," said Lisa Marie French, camp director. "Rabbit Run Theater and Stanton Park are beautiful facilities and greatly enhance the camping experience." Registration for children's Theater Camp is continues until June 15. Rabbit Run Theater and Stanton Park are both located on Chapel Road. p "Stringapalooza!," a violin/viola concert sponsored by Rabbit Run Community Arts Association in Madison, takes place Tuesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6345 Chapel Road. Directed by Dr. Carol Linsenmeier, it is comprised of music students from both Rabbit Run and the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby. Ten violin/viola students from Rabbit Run will perform solos followed by the Fine Arts String Orchestra, a group of 15 young musicians ages 8 to 15. The concert consists of both classical music as well as some Celtic fiddle music. For almost 20 years , Linsenmeier was the music department chair as well as a violin/viola instructor at the Fine Arts Association in Willoughby. She also recently served as an adjunct professor of violin and viola at Lake Erie College. She teaches violin/viola, including Suzuki violin, at Rabbit Run Community Arts Association in Madison, Ashtabula Arts Center and the Fine Arts Association.
