Good Life Singers go to Broadway in two concerts

ASHTABULA —  Celebrate the favorite songs of Broadways biggest hit shows when The Good Life singers play their annual spring concert at the Ashtabula Arts Center.

“Good Life Goes To Broadway!” will be today and Saturday at 7:30 p.m.

“My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music,” “I Dreamed a Dream” from “Les Miserables” and “Somewhere” from “West Side Story” are just a few of the songs that will be presented from scores of Broadway shows including “Oklahoma,” “Oliver,” “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Cats,” “Evita” and more.

The Good Life is a non-profit organization founded in 1976. It has been a part of the Ashtabula Arts Center since its inception. The Good Life performs both Christmas and spring concerts at the Ashtabula Arts Center and is available for community and private functions throughout the year. It is made up entirely of volunteers who love to sing, and is always looking for new members. Contact Bridget Sherman at 964-5193.

Tickets for the show are $9 and can be purchased at the Ashtabula Arts Center or from any Good Life member. Tickets can also be purchased at the door. Following the performance, The Good Life invites visitors to join them for refreshments in the gallery.

  • wd heat rocky 9 .jpg ‘The Rocky Horror Show’ is well performed, funny and worth seeing

Mention “The Rocky Horror Show” and almost everyone has an opinion, whether they've seen the movie or stage adaptation or not. It has been a cult classic for over three decades, since its release in 1975, and it has garnered plenty of criticism and negative commentary. Because public reaction to this extremely odd piece of musical comedy has been so strong for so long, many with an opinion have never even seen the movie or play. And many certainly do not understand that it is a spoof of shock theater. Yet they continue to berate the show as immoral and lewd.
