    As a pastor, the Rev. Karen Tews is called upon to help grieving families whose lives change in a split second.
    Tews counsels from personal experience. In 1977, while a sophomore at Lawrence University, Tews’ planned career in music was abruptly terminated by a traffic accident. As she lay in the hospital recovering, Tews’ pastor spoke words to her that still ring in her ears: “So what are you going to do next?”

    WOW — Worship on Wednesday — was implemented in mid-October, after months of discussion, said the Rev. Jeff Stoll, pastor of the church for 1 1/2 years.
