DORSET - - The Jefferson Board of Education meeting at the Dorset Community Center Monday approved the design phase for the new Jefferson Elementary Schoolt. The board is working with the Ohio School Facilities Commission (OSFC) to build two new elementary schools and a high school.

The next phase of the building process will be the construction document Phase for the two-story 80,000-square-foot building, which will be located on 16 acres behind the high school.

The board also approved the terms and conditions of the memorandum of understanding for the local funded initiatives for Jefferson Elementary. This allows the funding to be released for the $12.5 million project, Hladek said.

In other board business; the board approved hiring two math and reading intervention tutors at Jefferson Elementary, as well as, other employee hires such as a cafeteria monitor, coaches, bus drivers and substitute bus drivers.
