JEFFERSON - - The Ashtabula County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold a special election for the district board of supervisors in conjunction with it's 57th annual meeting on Oct. 4.
One board member will be elected to a three-year term.
County residents and landowners have three options for casting ballots:
- Call (576-4946) or visit the SWCD office (39 Wall St.) to request an absentee ballot;
- Cast a ballot at the district office on Oct. 4.
- Cast a ballot at the annual meeting, 7:15 to 8 p.m. Oct. 4, at the Ashtabula County Joint Vocational School, 1565 Route 167.
Candidates in this year's special election are Loren Ring of Monroe Township and Erick Smith of Rome Township.
Ashtabula SWCD, established in 1949, is a subdivision of state government, which provides natural resource management assistance to county landowners and other local government agencies.
It is funded by the Ashtabula County commissioners, and county funds are supplemented by Ohio Department of Natural Resources funds. The district is governed by a five-member board of county residents. Board members serve staggered three-year terms.
