ASHTABULA — A need to grow and be in a higher-traffic area are the reasons cited for Kym’s Studio move to 4904 Main Ave.
Kym Kirk, who has been a stylist for 14 years and a salon owner for three, is very excited about her new salon.
“I wanted to give more opportunities to local stylists, and I hope to have a couple more in here soon,” said Kirk, owner of the full-service hair salon.
There are two stylists who rent stations at Kym’s Studio. There is also a nail technician on staff at the salon.
Tina Benedict, of Ashtabula, has been a hair stylist for 18 years.
“Coloring and waxing are my specialties,” she said. “I can’t stand to see uneven eyebrows.”
Caitlyn Pontius, 24, also of Ashtabula, has been a hair stylist for five years and specializes in cuts, coloring and waxing.
“There is a very relaxed atmosphere in here. I believe it is important for clients to feel pampered when they come to a salon,” Pontius said.
Kym’s Studio is one of the few salons in the area to carry Sexy Hair products.
“Sexy Hair products are unique. They have a complete organic line with all natural ingredients,” Kirk said.
Kirk’s specialties are all about hair, including upswept hairdos (updos) and hair coloring, using the foil technique.
“I love hair; I love it all,” she said.
