ASHTABULA — The Ivy Rose has moved to the corner of West Prospect and McKinley Ave., from its Bridge Street-Harbor location.
Ron Robertson, owner of the floral shop, is ready to continue doing what he loves most in the world — designing floral arrangements.
“Years ago the front of this house was Miller’s Flower Shop,” Robertson said about the history of his new location. “Miller put the addition on the front and the workshop in the basement. It was meant to be a flower shop once again.”
Robertson was told through a friend about the suitability of the house for a floral shop. At first he resisted, but after he agreed to take a look, it was love at first step over the threshold.
“With the smaller showroom, and the option to reside upstairs, I have been able to cut my costs in half,” he said. “This also allows me to focus on my customer’s individual needs and creative fresh floral designs.”
Robertson regrets leaving Bridge Street because of all the wonderful friends he made there, but the move was economically advantageous and he can be with his business around the clock.
So what is hot in floral designs this year for the holiday season?
“Lots of traditional red and white,” he said. “Come and get it.”
