JEFFERSON — John Chandler has all the time in the world — right in his own shop.
Chandler, owner of Clock Works of Jefferson, located at 29 Wall St., is a self proclaimed “horological enthusiast.”
“Horology is the study of time, and I have been enthusiastic about clocks and how they work since I was a child,” he said.
In fact, Chandler’s grandfather collected and repaired clocks, and passed this skill on to his grandson. As Chandler got older, he began fixing the clocks of friends and relatives.
“Everyone started telling me I should open my own shop,” he said.
Today, with the help of family, especially his sister-in-law, Heather Chandler, Clock Works of Jefferson is open for business.
Chandler offers full service clock cleaning and repair, and also has available for sale all different kinds of clocks and watch sets. Some of these include: Grandfather, cuckoos, wall clocks, mantle, old school house regulators, hobby clocks, decoration clocks, specialty clocks, and projection clocks.
“We have some nice women’s and men’s time piece sets that are great for Christmas gifts,” Heather Chandler said.
Chandler is a member of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors (NAWCC).
“I have always enjoyed tinkering with clocks,” he said. “I want this to become the small town shop that people come in and enjoy.”
