“Charlene is great to work for. She is very patient, and she has lots of cute, creative ideas,” Arnold said.
Kusar bought the farm 22 years ago and started her first greenhouse season in 1997.
“I had worked in a local nursery that did trees and shrubs, and I was interested in the flowers. So I sold my 1983 Harley Super Glide and bought my first greenhouse and built the business from there,” she said.
In fact, Kusar Farms has expanded over the years to include a huge selection of annuals, perennials, garden statuary art, creative potting containers and much more.
Kusar also welcomes school groups for field trips on gardening and plant life.
“The kids love seeing my minidonkey, pygmy goats and chickens, too,” she said. “I appreciate the closeness of a small town. My customers are my neighbors and friends.”
Kusar Farms is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, until sold out, around July 1. For further information, call 440-576-4603.
