The Job Source Partners present “Windmills” Training for Employers, Wed., April 16.
Registration, coffee and doughnuts are from 8 to 8:30 a.m. with the seminar being from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.
The Windmills Management Training Program helps businesses evaluate, hire and supervise employees with disabilities.
Through the exploration of biases, stereotypes and myths, it will enhance your employees’ awareness of cultural diversity in the workplace.
Windmills consists of fast-paced one-hour modules that encourage employers to participate and interact within small groups. It focuses on people with disabilities, but its reinforcement of good management practices applies to all employees.
Modules presented will include:
Pick a Disability
Participants are asked to select two disabilities from a list of four:
The disability that they would choose for themselves if they had to have one and the disability that they would least want to have.
This selection is followed with an interactive group discussion of the factors and issues that played a part in their decision.
This is followed by a trainer-led discussion about reactions to disabilities and how they can affect behavior toward people with disabilities.
Story
Participate in a warm-up exercise that allows the participants to share personal experiences they have had with disabilities or people with disabilities.
People-First Language – Ten Commandments
Overview of dos and don’ts and tips for communicating with people with disabilities.
