ASHTABULA — Material handling product manufacturer Meese Orbitron Dunne Co., located at 4920 State Road (www.ShipShape-Containers.com), has been named among the largest rotational molders in the United States by global trade publication Plastics News in its annual review of the industry.
Ranked as 17th out of more than 250 companies, Meese Orbitron Dunne Co. (MOD) reported $31 million in rotomolding sales in 2007.
The record year marks the culmination of the company’s multi-million dollar investments in capital equipment, operator training, computer technology and new product development, said MOD President Robert Dunne.
“With our state-of-the-art equipment and engineering talent, we’re designing containers that cut shipping weight, cut fuel costs, streamline logistics and promote environmental responsibility on a global scale,” Dunne said.
The first company in North America to purchase the automated Leonardo rotational molding system, MOD designs and manufacturers bulk containers, collection carts and other products faster and at higher quality levels with less material waste and with less energy than companies relying solely on traditional machines.
The company’s renowned P-291 and P-333 Ship Shape (TM) containers are to be manufactured on the new system to accelerate lead times and permit enhanced pricing flexibility.
MOD employs 200 people in four plants located in California, Indiana, Ohio and New Jersey, positioning the company to deal strategically with multiple location customers while offering the lowest shipping cost possible. MOD is a member of the Tingue Family of Companies, with roots dating to 1902.
