ASHTABULA — Beat the winter blues with good family fun at Lake Shore Lanes located at 2234 Lake Ave.
Lake Shore Lanes announces the grand opening of the Outback Games and Grill, which was the former Patio Lounge, said co-owner Mark Ernst.
“It was our desire to bring to the community a family-oriented place to have fun and relax,” Ernst said. “We want people to bring their kids and have a great time playing together.”
The Outback Games and Grill is complete with its own full-service snack bar and kitchen; attractive, comfortable seating areas; and arcade games galore. Some of these games include: pin ball, ski ball, air hockey, action games, bowling and basketball machines, and pool.
“The jukebox will be free for the first month,” Ernst said.
Reaching out to area families was right up their alley for this family owned and operated business. Four years ago, Ernst, along with his wife Brenda, son Chad and daughter Christy Vencill, bought and remodeled Lake Shore Lanes.
“We’ve always been a bowling family, when Lake Shore Lanes came up for sale we were looking for a family venture to get into and this was a good fit for us,” Ernst said.
Besides the new Outback Games and Grill, what can people expect to find at Lake Shore Lanes?
“Since we have taken over, we put in all automatic scoring technology; brand new synthetic lanes; and underground ball returns,” said Ernst. “Plus, all new carpets on the floors and walls.”
This winter season there are five bowling leagues from juniors to mixed leagues, with one all women’s league, men’s and women’s leagues and kid’s leagues on Saturday afternoons. There is open bowling every night with $2 specials on Tuesdays and Sundays. Friday and Saturday nights after 9 p.m. is Lunar Bowling and also on Friday and Saturday nights is Razzle Dazzle with colored pins for cash prizes.
“We participate in two big tournaments a year, the Beacon’s Best and the Ashtabula County 390 Doubles Tournament,” Ernst said.
Birthday parties and special occasion parties for all ages are welcome, as well as Lake Shore Lane will accommodate for school field trips and groups needing daytime hours.
Up front is a full-service lounge and snack bar with all the favorites like pizza, nachos, burgers and fries for hungry bowlers. There are also pool tables and darts in the lounge. A pro-shop is also on sight for everything a bowler might need.
The bowler who is also a sports fan need not worry about missing a big game, as this bowling alley is equipped with three big screen TVs. A professional local disc jockey spins music every Saturday evening.
Need a little extra help knocking down those pins? No problem, Lake Shore Lanes has bumpers and handicapped-accessible bowling.
“We want people to think of us as an entertainment center, not just a bowling alley,” said Ernst.
Lake Shore Lanes and Outback Games and Grill hours are: Monday-Friday 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday Noon to midnight Sunday 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Call for more information at (440) 993-1172.
