Polling locations changed for three Ashtabula precincts

JEFFERSON — Heating problems at an Ashtabula polling place has prompted the Ashtabula County Board of Elections to relocate three precincts for Tuesday’s general election.

Ashtabula precincts 3A, 3B and 4A have been moved to Messiah Lutheran Church, 615 W. Prospect Road, said Carol Lovas, election board director. The election board learned Monday morning there is no heat at GO Ministries on Station Avenue, the original location for the three precincts, Lovas said. The problem would not be fixed in time for the election, she said.

“If there’s no heat we can’t have it as a polling place,” Lovas said. “We have no choice. We can’t put heaters in there.”

The polling place change will be advertised and signs will be erected to inform voters of this one-time switch, Lovas said. Messiah Lutheran is a short distance from GO Ministries and is equipped with an elevator, she said.

Polls are open across the county between 6:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
