Madison High student killed in crash

THOMPSON —

A Madison High School student was killed Tuesday morning in a car vs. cement truck accident on Route 528.

Ohio State Highway Patrol Sgt. Andrew Topp of the Chardon Post said Amanda L. Kamposek, 17, died instantly after she failed to yield at a stop sign at Moseley Road and Route 528 at 8:12 a.m.

Her 2002 Chevy Cavalier was crushed by an southbound Mack cement truck.

Topp said Route 528 was closed for nearly six hours as emergency crews worked to free the victims and then clean up the wreckage.

Brian Shank, 61, of Painesville, was driving the cement truck and suffered “non life threatening injuries” in the crash, Topp reports.

OHP crash reports show Kamposek failed to yeild at a stop sign on Moseley Road and attempted to cross Route 528 when the cement truck struck her driver’s side door.

The impulsion of the crash forced both vehicles off the road, Topp said.
