Strumming for APL Main Avenue Music raffles guitar

ASHTABULA — Guitars and violins, saxophones and pianos — every instrument at Main Avenue Music has a musician to make sweet music with.
Employee Pat Payment, who is also a volunteer at the Animal Protective League, wishes every cat and dog could have a special someone.
“The store owner is a big animal lover and with my work at the APL, we decided to hold a special raffle,” Payment said.
Main Avenue Music will raffle off a AXL electric guitar, which is similar to a Fender Stratocaster. The black and white guitar is new and on display at the store, Payment said.
“We were going to have a ‘Guitar Hero’ video game contest, but we really didn’t see a lot of interest locally,” Payment said. “But this is a great guitar and it just seemed like a great way to raise money for the animals.”
All funds raised will be donated to the shelter’s spay-neuter program. Payment said.
“We are all animal lovers here and we definitely see the need for the spay-neuter program,” Payment said. “The APL is on the right track by not adopting out unaltered animals. Spay-neuter is the only way to control the pet population.”
Payment said her focus is on the shelter’s cats, which cost up to $46 each for the surgery.
