ACMC welcomes a new OB/GYN

ASHTABULA - - Ashtabula County Medical Center is pleased to welcome OB/GYN Tiberiu Avram, MD, to the Ashtabula Women's Health Center, 524 W. 24th St.

Dr. Avram is currently serving as an OB/GYN on a locum tenens (temporary) basis at East Ohio Regional Hospital in Martins Ferry. He will arrive at ACMC April 16, joining Dr. Dan Lazarescu on a full-time basis.

Dr. Avram also has been employed as an attending physician at Parkview Hospital in Columbia City, Ind., and a locum tenens physician at Fostoria Community Hospital in Fostoria. He received a degree in psychology from New York University in 1994, and his medical degree from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania, in 2000.

Dr. Avram has served three OB/GYN residencies, at Long Island College Hospital in Brooklyn, Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, and at Wayne State University in Detroit. He also was a Galloway Fellow at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Dr. Avram is board-eligible.

He is fluent in English, French and Romanian, as well as conversational Spanish. Dr. Avram also has served as a counselor, teaching teenagers about birth control and AIDS awareness in Ploiesti, Romania.
