HALO begins campaign

ASHTABULA - - Holiday Angels Loving Others (HALO) helps the less fortunate during the holiday season and has kicked off it annual campaign.
HALO evolved five years ago out of the Share Your Christmas program and is coordinated by Catholic Charities as a collaborative among several Ashtabula County agencies. HALO's main goal is to provide assistance during the holiday season through donations.
The donations then provide needy families with food and gifts, bringing the Christmas spirit to everyone.
There are three ways to help with the HALO program by adopting a family, donating to the program or volunteering. Organizations and individuals can adopt a family for the holiday, donations can be made and are tax deductible or by volunteering to help one's church, school, family or service organization adopt or donate.
Those wanting to be a recipient of the HALO program may fill out an application at one of the various sites throughout the county. This year applications will be taken between Oct. 2 through Dec. 1.
The following are the application sites.
- Ashtabula and Geneva residents
Ashtabula Senior Center, 4632 Main Ave., Ashtabula, on Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Dream Center, 604 W. 57th St., Ashtabula, on Tuesday and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Salvation Army, 3527 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, on Wednesday and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Geneva Community Center, 62 W. Main St., Geneva, on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon.
- Conneaut area residents
Conneaut Human Resources Center, 327 Mill St., Conneaut, on Tuesday and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Jefferson area residents
St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 89 E. Satin St., Jefferson, on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to noon and Monday and Fridays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
- Grand Valley and Pymatuning Valley area residents
St. Mary Hall, Route 45, Orwell, on Oct. 17 and Oct. 31; Nov. 7 and Nov. 14; and Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Andover Public Library, 142 W. Main St., Andover on the following Wednesdays: Oct. 17, Oct. 25, Nov. 1, Nov. 8, Nov. 15 and Nov. 29 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
